Membership Working Group
What we do:
The Membership Working Group (MWG) plays an important role in being the “gatekeeper” for IELA, as it sieves through and make recommendations for the entry of companies into IELA membership. The MWG consists of volunteer members from all over the world.
The MWG processes applications by potential members by assessing them against stringent criteria, and finally voting electronically for them to be recommended to be considered by the IELA BOM to approve to be members. Such criteria includes checking and questioning on the following:
- The extent of the applicant’s involvement in exhibitions
- Sponsors’ justification as to why they sponsored the applicant for entry into IELA
- Amount of business the applicant has with each of the individual Sponsors
- Financial stability (eg. Debt issues)
- ISO and Health & Safety certifications
Review, investigate and evaluate existing IELA members to ensure that IELA criteria are respected in the event of non like unethical behavior, rumors of financial problems, etc..
Membership Group, in close collaboration with the IELA BOM decides where new members will be recruited. This especially focuses on “White Spot” countries where there is a total absence, or negligible number, of IELA member(s) in a particular country.
